Rodeo on East Coast
When we think of cowboys and rodeos, we think Wild West, Southern States, Mid West, and we don't think of East Coast, Metropolitan Area, New York, or New England. But the cowboys on East Coast are alive and ridding.
Only a short drive away from New York City, there is "Malibu Dude Ranch," where real men, strong and brave, compete with each other and with massive and beautiful animals. They are real Americans and are here to remind us of American history when herders and settlers were men upon which this country came to life and stayed strong.
Welcome to Malibu ranch, where cowboys compete to prove who has the best herding skills.
It's a very patriotic event that always starts with praising the flag of the US Army, followed by flags of Marines, Coast Guards, Prisoners of War, and, of course, the American Flag.
And the competition begins! A cowboy must stay atop a raging bull for as long as possible while holding on to a rope with only one hand!
The guy on the right of the photo is a 'clown'. They may be dressed funny, but their job is very dangerous: when a cowboy is down, they must get the bull's attention onto themselves so the raging bull won't mutilate a cowboy.
It is a no doubt dangerous sport, and unfortunately, injuries happen... This poor cowboy had to be carried off the arena, unable to walk out on his own feet...
Here comes the winner. He was able to stay atop for longer than 8 seconds - somewhere around 10, I believe. But eventually, even he fell off.
A change of 'horses'. Same rules.
Another one bites the dust.
Next competition: Cowboys have to race a young bull, jump on his back and wrestle him down.
Time for the good old lassoing.
Cowboys must catch a calf with a lasso around his horns and another around his behind legs. They have only one try – if they miss, they go home with empty pockets and no fame.
The next one is about riding around barrels at top speed.
And back to riding bulls once again.
